Johnny Osbourne, born Errol Osbourne in Kingston, Jamaica, is one of reggae and dancehall's most enduring singers. He began his recording career in the late 1960s and later spent time in Canada before returning to Jamaica, where he became closely associated with Studio One. During the 1980s he recorded extensively for leading producers including Prince Jammy, Junjo Lawes and Bobby Digital. Known for his distinctive voice and ability to adapt from roots reggae to dancehall, Osbourne recorded enduring songs including “Truths and Rights,” “Water Pumping,” “Ice Cream Love” and “Budy Bye.” His career has spanned several decades, making him an important link between the roots reggae era and modern dancehall.
